ABOUT
Born in Noto, Sicily, in 1988, Giuliano Macca studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. He lives and works in Amsterdam. Macca’s large scale works on canvas or paper, often inspired by mythological themes, feature human bodies emerging or mingled in imaginary landscapes. By dissolving the anatomical physionomy of the human bodies, the artist forays into a mental space and into the human psyche. Macca’s sources of inspiration are drawn from artists such as Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Francis Bacon, as well as old masters from the western history of art whom he reinterprets and combines with genuine experimental techniques.
Giuliano Macca has been represented by GOWEN since 2021.
